Bangla Tigers have named Shakib al Hasan as the skipper for the upcoming T10 Abu Dhabi competition which is scheduled for November 2022. The Bangladeshi skipper would be joined by Caribbean batter Elvin Lewis, New Zealand’s Colin Munro, Pakistan’s left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir, and Sri Lanka’s Matheesha Pathirana who is known to be as Baby Malinga due to his similar bowling action. The team, which came 3rd in last year’s tournament, have also appointed Aftab Ahmed as head coach, Richard Stonier as a trainer, Nazmul Abedin Fahim as Assistant Coach and Mentor, and retained Kunal Manek as Analyst. Also joining the team this year is former Indian cricketer S.Sreesanth as mentor. The team would be hoping to create some magic in this year’s edition as a lot of expectations would be on Shakib al Hasan to lead from the front and also create a positive environment in the dressing room.
During media interaction, Mohammad Yasin Chowdhury, owner of the Bangla Tigers said that it is befitting that Shakib is the new captain of the side. He said that they always tried to sign Shakib, but he used to stay busy in his international duties. Yasin called him an inspirational captain and said that he will lead the side from the front. “It is befitting that Shakib plays for the Bangla Tigers. He is a fantastic ambassador for Bangladesh cricket,” Chowdhury added.
Abu Dhabi T10 League 2022 will start on November 23 and the final will be played on December 4, 2022. Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Stadium will host all the matches of the tournament. All the teams have started their preparation for the same.
